Making Art Accessible To All ✶

DIY’s Mission:

DIY Museum is a queer arts collective that cultivates community and belonging in the Bay Area.

Through creative programming, DIY fosters safe and accessible spaces for anyone and everyone to explore their innate creativity.

Our goal is to support local artists, inclusive arts programming, and alternative artistic expression.

What is DIY Museum?

DIY’s Vision:

We envision a world where art transcends binaries and hierarchies.

We aim to uplift forms of expression in all media including zines, fiber arts, collage, comics, poetry, photography, and more.

We welcome people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, and hope to have diverse programming that appeals to a lot of different individuals.

Where to find DIY

DIY Museum does not currently exist in a single physical location. At this time, we are focused on partnering with community spaces and doing virtual events to reach a wide audience.

In the future, we dream of opening our own arts space in the Bay Area.

Community Mindset

We are creating the artistic community that we need by listening to the needs of our community.

We encourage all forms of art and attach ourselves to the ‘DIY Ethos’ of holding ourselves accountable to creating programming that serves the unmet needs of our community at large.

Recurring Events

Do It Together

Monthly meetup for artists of all types to bring their art supplies & get crafty while building relationships.

Craft Workshops

On book binding, paper making, and zine how-to’s to name a few, DIY is always dreaming up new skills to share in workshop format

Zine & Sticker Faires

DIY loves being involved in art faires of all kinds to showcase our members art via stickers, creative zines, and other goods.

Community Gatherings

Community Gatherings are a unique space for curious folks seeking to experience connection outside of social media.

They are a space to ask questions about anything and everything.

Art of Alchemy

A monthly generative poetry workshop hosted at A.B.O. Comix. Once a quarter, we host these virtually so all can attend!

Nuts & Bolts

Our yearly arts education and empowerment event, featuring working artist panels, art vendors, workshops, and more.

A vast majority of DIY Museum’s programming is completely free in order to be as accessible as possible. In order to continue offering our services to the community and achieve our goal of having a physical art space, we rely on donations from people like you!

We use a cooperative and member-owned platform, Comradery, to accept monthly memberships. Those memberships can get you some pretty sweet rewards, such as:

  • Special DIY Stickers

  • Guest List to our events

  • Exclusive Merch

Help DIY Achieve Our Goals!

The entirety of donations go into DIY Museum’s programming fund. Donations are tax-deductible. Plus, they make us smile.
